* Manifesto

So We had this manifesto project at university, that was one of those look deeply in to yourself type  projects. I did the standard look around the room picking up things and trying to think why i liked them. Then after a week or 2 of realizing that this really was getting me no where I wrote possibly one of the most over the top, sickeningly flouncy pieces of writing about myself ever. Here is a tiny extract from that piece of text…

“My obsession with how things worked first manifested itself as the mechanics of magic. Learning simple classics at first like cups and balls lead the way to more complex card manipulation, which I never was amazingly good at ,as I lacked the will to perform. Rather filling my head with the knowledge of how to create a controlled environment of 52 separate elements that through certain embellishments could act effortlessly as one.”

I then boiled this down in to a set of nine rules that i try to apply to my work subconsciously or not. The list ended up looking like this:

  • Potential
  • Deconstruction
  • Manipulation
  • Contrast
  • Composition
  • Repetition
  • Enhancing
  • Unreliability
  • Dilapidation

Any way enough about the  boring writing part, as i’ve just realized I am going in to my life story a bit, here’s the rough drawing for my finalized poster. It reads left to right with the accompanying list above and when finished will be a simple line drawing in rotring pen with ‘Enhancing’ being a silver foil inlay.

I’m off to the art shop tomorrow to get a nice size piece of really fine water colour paper, or some thing to that effect. But i may go to Ikea First to pick up a simple square frame and let that govern the size of the final piece due to lack of funds.

But now it’s time for some down time, as YES it has taken me about three months but my room is now tidy enough to work in. so you’ve probably guessed it a bit of PVZ and a cup of tea. Then some walking dead perhaps as i can finally get to and indeed sleep in my bed!
